After much careful consideration I have decided to add another facet to my research. Initially I had thought to use my research to inform the script writing of the video essay, however, it simply wasn’t adequate, due to the questions being blatantly directional and there not being a way to deduce and compare data for new findings.
To give my research more depth I have decided to also look at the method of dissemination and its effectiveness. The video essay is a comprehensive tool, which can take both long form and short form and the primary video hosting site to use both styles is Youtube. I have noticed that within my community people are reading less and watching youtube more, so I also wondered if this could apply to our younger community at UAL. This lead me to question if the video essay format could be an effective teaching and learning tool for serious subject matters. Now there is also the problem of tone of voice for video essay, whether it should be polemic or academic, and my view is that it should be done in a style where it can capture an audience. Nonetheless I will find out from the participants in which way they find a video essay to be impactful.
Below are the screen shots of my overall questionnaire from the creators view:

This first question is a branched question, as the first section asks a lot about the qualities of a video essay and the participants opinion, and if a persons answer is no, they will not be able to answer the continuing questions in this section.

If the participant answers ‘No‘ they will be directed to the cobalt mining section and if they answer ‘Yes‘ they will be able to continue in this video essay section.

However, to avoid the reader having to fill out the questionnaire I have included the questionnaire screenshots as participants will see it.
